Wildlife Artist Pollyanna Pickering has been honoured with a National award for her artwork. Her painting ‘Study of a Jacob’s Ram’ has won the Gold Medal for the Best Painting in Show at the Association of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition which is currently running in Cheshire.
The painting was selected from over two hundred works on exhibition at the Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham, submitted by artists from throughout the UK and around the world. The event was selected by Artists and Illustrators magazine as one of the 12 most inspiring art exhibitions in the UK.
“It was a huge surprise” Pollyanna commented after collecting her award at the Preview evening “It is quite a subtle picture, and I thought it could easily be overlooked, so I am absolutely delighted that it was the painting which caught the judge’s eye!”
However Pollyanna is currently working on a collection of paintings inspired by wildlife from much further a field – her forthcoming Summer exhibition in her private gallery near Matlock will feature paintings of endangered species inspired by her expeditions to all seven continents.
